Mangaluru: Even though the state government had announced that people coming from other states would not be sent to institutional quarantine, Mangaluru MLA U T Khader on Tuesday, June 9, said that institutional quarantine will continue to be followed in his constituency for returnees from other states.
Addressing the reporters here on Tuesday, Khader said that the Belma Gram Panchayat has been identified as a nodal office to look after the quarantine procedures. “No one who comes from another state will be allowed to go home without quarantine. We will take all precautionary measures during the quarantine period,” Khader added.
Questioning the revised guidelines regarding quarantine, Khader said, “The state government has withdrawn the practice of institutional quarantine for those who come from other states. Such a move will create hatred among the neighbors as no one would like to get in contact with those who come from other states, fearing a Covid-19 infection. Hence, the state government should reconsider its decision.”
