Mangaluru: Oscar Weltha, a household name in the city for western music that has the distinction of training men and women, boys and girls to play various instruments through his “Welthas School of Music” for the past 15 years.

Now to add one more feather to his cap, Oscar has crafted an audio CD entitled “The Staff “containing twenty instrumental songs. The unique feature of this album is that all the instruments used in it are played by Oscar himself, except the bass guitar and drums.
The CD was released on Sunday, the 7th of December 2014 at CSI Shanthi Cathedral , Balmatta during the morning divine service. The sponsors of the CD, viz, Mr. George Albuquerque Pai, Mrs Cecilia Albuquerque , Ms Vimala Lobo and Mrs Gladys Silver were present during its release.
The album also displays a high quality of performance. The various instruments played by Oscar, such as, saxophone, clarinet, violin, viola, cello, keyboard, guitar, mandolin and Banjo Mandolin has the mark of professionalism and perfection. Hence this album is certain to enthral the western music lovers. It should be mentioned specially that Oscar Weltha has decided to donate the entire proceeds from the sale of this CD to an old age home, a gesture which needs to be lauded and supported wholeheartedly.
The album ‘ The Staff’ is produced and dedicated to the loving memory of Oscar’s father, the late Godwin Weltha, himself, a renowned western music teacher in Mangaluru, whose legacy Oscar is continuing with vigour and creativity. Presently Oscar Weltha is also the Music Director of the Balmatta Musical Association, Mangaluru.
