Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary informed that the Wenlock Hospital will be opened for Out Patient Department (OPD) services in the next two days.
Addressing the reporters here on Monday, June 8, Minister Poojary admitted that after the Wenlock Hospital was converted into a dedicated Covid hospital, many patients suffered a lot.
“Appropriate measures will be taken to resume OPD services like before. As nearly 700 to 800 patients regularly visit the hospital for treatment, they had to face a lot of difficulties after it was converted into a dedicated Covid hospital. However, measures will be taken to restart the OPD services,” he informed.
Commenting on the Central Market Committee members’ insistence to allow them to conduct their business at the Central Market, Minister Poojary said that a meeting will be convened with the Deputy Commissioner of the district soon and a decision in this regard will be taken.
Meanwhile, he informed that three help desks have been set up for those who want to apply for passes to travel from the Kasargod district to the Dakshina Kannada district.
“Issuance of passes had become a challenge as many people had not furnished their Aadhaar cards. An app and website has been launched to issue passes and the problems related to the issuance of passes will be rectified,” he said.
