Mangaluru: Two journalists allegedly assaulted and threatened another journalist who is working for a news website in the city.

The accused have been identified as Giridhar Shetty and Sukhpal Polali, both working for two separate vernacular news channels. The person who was assaulted and threatened by the accused has been identified as Ranjith of Madanthyar in Beltangady Taluk. Sources in Mangaluru North Police station informed that the accused Giridhar Shetty and Sukhpal Polali allegedly assaulted and threatened Ranjith when he was returning from a press conference held at Campco office in the city, on September 27. It is said that the accused had telecast a story in their respective television channels a few days ago. However, Ranjith published the same story in a different angle on his website, which was said to be the reason for the clash.

A case has been registered in this regard at Mangaluru North Police Station and investigation is on.
