Karkala: A family that was returning from a house warming ceremony met with an accident, resulting in death of one of the family members, on Saturday at Ranganapalke here.

The deceased has been identified as Sadananda Suvarna (70), a resident of Ambalpady in Udupi.

Suvarna and his family were returning home to Udupi when he lost control over the vehicle. The car hit a boulder at Ranganapalke, killing Suvarna on the spot and leaving his wife Girija, daughter Supreetha, son in-law Mahesh and granddaughter Manasa injured.

ASP Dr Sumana, Circle Inspector G M Naikar and others have visited the spot.
