Kundapur: An accident near the bus stand at Shiroor claimed the life of a person while two others  were badly injured on Tuesday February 11.

The accident took place when an ambulance rammed into a bike, after which it went and hit a rickshaw parked by the road.

The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Chandra Gonda, the bike rider. He died on the spot while Nagaraj Gonda who was riding pillion with Chandra and Mohammed Ghouse who was in auto rickshaw also sustained gruesome injuries.

Reportedly the 108 ambulance was passing through NH 66 from Kundapur towards Bhatkal. The ambulance driver to avoid collision with an approaching vehicle turned the vehicle when he lost control and bumped into the bike rider which hit the auto rickshaw and a goods rickshaw that were parked on the road side.

Byndoor police have registered a case.The injured have been admitted to Manipal hospital.
