Mangaluru: National Institute of Technology (NITs) will take up social services including adoption of villages, Director of NITK Surathkal Prof. Swapan Bhattacharya said.

Addressing the gathering during his presidential speech at the 10th Global Convention of NITK Surathkal Alumni Association at NITK on Friday December 18, Prof. Bhattacharya informed that social services intended to be taken up are accredited to the schemes formulated by the Union government.

He said that NITK?has to convert itself into a 24×7 campus contrary to the present 8 am – 5 pm campus in addition to replacing the learning oriented system by teaching oriented system. He also informed that the institution is planning to offer a summer internship programme for 100 students henceforth. These students will get to visit world’s top five laboratories.

Managing Director of Titan Company Ltd Bhaskar Bhat, was the Chief Guest. Spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev was the Guest of Honour.
