NIA Arrests Prime Accused in Praveen Nettaru Murder Case

Mangaluru: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested Mustafa Paichar, the prime accused in the 2022 murder case of Praveen Nettaru, a BJP Yuva Morcha worker. Paichar was arrested from Sakaleshwar town in Hassan district on May 10.

He was the fourth accused in the murder case, which triggered protests across the state and evoked widespread outrage. Sources revealed that the NIA team also took custody of two individuals who had provided shelter to Paichar.

The BJP Yuva Morcha worker was brutally killed by assailants in Bellare on July 26th, 2022. In January, 2023, the NIA had filed a charge sheet against 20 individuals. The chargesheet mentioned that the BJP worker was killed with sharp weapons to instigate communal discord and societal unrest, as part of the agenda of the PFI.

The NIA has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for any informant providing valuable information.
