Mangalore : It was a momentous day for The Small Christian Community (SCC) of Mangalore Diocese on May 16, Thursday. The silver jubilee celebrations of the Community was held at St Sebastian Church, Bendore on this day. The celebrations began with a Eucharistic Mass led by Rev Dr Aloysius Paul DSouza, Bishop of Mangalore. Fr Denis Moras Prabhu, Vicar General, Fr Herald Pereira, Fr Antony Serrao, Parish Priest of Bendore Church and Fr Walter DSouza, Director of SCC were the concelebrants.
Newly elected MLA of Mangalore South JR Lobo was felicitated during the function held at the church hall later on. The Bishop honoured Lobo and congratulated him over his victory.
Replying to the honour conferred on him, Lobo thanked all members of the community for this win and at the same time added he had enjoyed the support of members of all communities who had played an equal role in his win.
He said as an MLA his priority would be to respond to the problems of the people and live upto their expectations.He further stated that every citizen has the onerous responsibility of spreading the message of God.
A souvenir brought out by the SCC to commemorate its silver jubilee was released by Vicar General Fr Denis Moras Prabhu. An audio CD on SCC brought out by Fr Walter DSouza was released by the Bishop.
