Mangalore : Shree Gokarnanatha Temple at Kudroli in Mangalore, which is celebrating Dasara with grandeur, will have another attraction this time. A Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir newly constructed at the temple precincts will be inaugurated on October 10, Friday.
Speaking to reporters here on October 7, Monday, former union minister B Janardhan Poojari said the cost of the Mandir construction has been borne by his son Santosh Poojari who works for a multi-national company, out of his own savings.
The installation of the five feet 7.5 inches tall statue will be held on October 9, Thursday and the inauguration will be held on October 10, Poojari informed.
He said the statue made of white marble has been carved by Bharadwaj from Jaipur.
Giving information on the two widow priests appointed at the temple, Poojari said one of them Lakshmi Shanthi (67) is a resident of Bantwal Mooda, while the other priest Indira Shanthi(45) is from Bannur, Puttur. They have been trained by Lokesh Shanthi, the Guru Mandir priest from BC Road. He said the temple was ready to train women in priesthood in case they are interested.
