Mangalore : Kaup MLA Vinaykumar Sorake who has taken charge as the new Minister for Urban Development was accorded a grand welcome by party workers and admirers at the Mangalore International Airport on his maiden visit to his home district after becoming a minister.
Speaking to reports on the occasion, he said the Congress government would leave no stone unturned in correcting the follies of the BJP government and take the state on the path of progress.
To a question how he would face the challenges facing his department, Sorake said “ I have taken charge just recently and will chalk out a strategy after holding a meeting with departmental officials on May 22.”
Asked about the action that would be taken against unauthorized constructions in Mangalore, the minister said legal action would follow.
The new minister said the state government was keen on developing Mangalore and added every possible effort would be made in this direction.
Several party workers and leaders welcomed the leader by offering him garlands.
