New police commissioner of Mangalore takes charge

Mangalore :R Hitendra has been appointed as the new police commissioner of Mangalore city.The ceremony was held at the police commissionerate.

The former police commissioner Manish Karbikar has been transferred as the DIG of Karnataka State Reserve Police.

In the press conference Hitendra said that he would take steps to stop communal violence and underworld activities in Mangalore. He also said that he would take proper steps as the city also lacks in some of the basic facilities.

Hitendra, who hails from Kolar, belongs to the 1996 batch of Karnataka police. He has also done BE in electronics.

He has served as the SP of CBI, Bangalore till 2010.He also served as DIG of anti-corruption department, CBI, Bangalore.He has worked on a number of important cases including the Satyam Computers scam and the illegal mining scam.

Hitendra has received the Police Medal for his Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day.
