Udupi: The Bhajrang Dal has alleged that there was a network which  targeted Hindu girls in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.

Addressing a press meet here on January 11, Saturday, Bhajrang Dal Convener Sharan Pumpwell  pointed out that in most cases reported in the district, the targets were Hindu girls itself.

Denouncing the latest incident wherein a youth uploaded obscene photographs of a girl on Facebook,  Sharan Pumpwell said that innocent girls from the community are lured in the name of love by these organizations, leading to such incidents.

Referring to the  Derlakatte blackmail, rape and forced sex incident, he said  as per statistics 90 percent of the girls who have been ensnared by such boys are Hindus. He further urged the police department as well as the government to take strict against the accused. He demanded that Mohammed Yaseer from Udupi who was arrested for uploading obscene photos of a girl in Facebook should be charged with rape and blackmail.

In another unwelcome development, posters showing the obscene pics which were uploaded on Facebook,  accompanied by some provocative  words were seen pasted on the compound walls of Madhava Kripa College, MGM College, Diana talkies, Santhekatte, and other places. It is suspected that the posters wherein the girl’s face was very much clear, were put up during the night.

A few students from the colleges where these posters were put up,  suspected this to be a political ploy. The posters were later removed by the police.
