Bantwal : With Bantwal experiencing heavy rains accompanied by strong winds since the past few days, water level in River Netravathi has risen sharply and the river is in full spate. Several low lying areas in the vicinity are inundated and around 8 houses in Aladka of Panemangalore are suffering after rain water fushed into the houses.



Tahsildar Malleswamy has visited the houses and has initiated steps to shift the occupants of the houses to safer locations. The water level of Netravathi which had risen to 7.3 meters on Saturday night came down to 6.7 meters on Sunday July 20 afternoon.
The Tahsildar and revenue officials are camping in the area.
Electricity plays hide and seek: In the meantime, electricity has been playing hide and seek since the past few days, thereby testing the patience of people of the taluk.
