Mangaluru: Accusing the ruling party government of indulging in nepotism, VHP demanded a halt on the arrests of right wing activists by police.
Speaking at a press meet organised here on July 14, VHP Mangaluru region Secretary Gopal G demanded the arrest of Sharath’s killers and other “Jihadi” elements responsible for creating communal tension in the district. A beginning can be made by arresting SDPI leaders, said Gopal holding SDPI directly responsible for Sharath’s killing.
Condemning the police raids conducted on the houses of “innocent” Hindu leaders during night hours and the “use of foul language to threaten the family members”, he gave an ultimatum to the police and to the state government that if the same continued there might be repercussions for which the government will be responsible.
Gopal defended DK police and demanded home minister’s advisor Kempaiah’s withdrawal by accusing him of mounting pressure on them to subvert the probe.
Congress government is not giving a freehand to DK police to book the guilty though they are capable of cracking the case, Gopal said.
VHP also demanded Centre to handover the management of Amarnath Yatra to Indian army in the wake of recent terrorist attack on pilgrims. The central government should take strong measures to destroy all terror dens in the country and book elements supporting terror, VHP demanded in a press release.
