Mangaluru: In a peculiar incident footwear affixed with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s photograph was found hung on the gate of a house at Mudipodi near Kallapupatla, Thokkottu on Monday January 19.

The said house belongs to Jayarama Shetty, son of former Mandal chief and senior Congress leader the late Mahabala Shetty.

Jayarama’s house lies in the midst of the estate and in a lower altitude compared to other 50 houses in the area. Hence the waste water from these houses flow towards Jayarama’s house which has contaminated the water from his well and pond.

Pertaining to the issue, there were differences among the neighbours, as Jayarama had complained to the municipality and the district administration regarding this.

However the municipality did not take any measures even after the confirmation given by health officials on the contamination.  Thus Jayarama made his own arrangement to stop the water from reaching his well.

Some of his neighbours reportedly had dispute with him regarding this issue. Recently a group of people had even allegedly threatened him. Anusuya Shetty, the mother of Jayarama narrates that a few youngsters are in a heed to take revenge.

Ullal police station officer Savithra Taja, sub-inspector Bharathi and Shanthi D’Souza, the municipal member visited the place. Shanthi D’Souza promised appropriate action in the matter. However no police complaint has been registered.
