Mangalore : With Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts having ample tourism potential, the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry on July 13, Saturday convened a meeting of tour operators and media men on the ways and means to promote tourism in the undivided DK district.
Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project CEO Yathish Baikampady who spoke on the occasion, stressed the need to redress various problems confronting the sector. There is a need for locals to be tourist friendly and this will also give a major boost to tourism in the district, he opined.
Hotel Moti Mahal Executive Director Prof. Shyamprasad who also spoke appreciated the efforts made by the government to promote tourism sector.
One of the scribes who participated in the interactive session wanted good maintenance of various places of tourist importance as well as historical monuments.
William DSouza of Globe Travels,Aloysius Albuquerque from Summer Sands Beach Resort and Eulalia D’Souza, Proprietor of Lia Travels also aired their views and stressed the need for better amenities and facilities to promote tourism sector and help its development.
KCCI Chief Mohammad Ameen, M Ganesh Bhat, Treasurer, Vathika Kamath, Chairperson of Tourism Committee of KCCI, Manish Chowta, Nirmala Kamath and others were present on the occasion.
