“NDA’s land acquisition ordinance is anti-farmer and pro-industry”

Moodbidri: The central government’s recent Land acquisition ordinance which avoids permission from the farmers for acquiring their land and a environment study for certain categories of projects has been opposed by the farmers.

The anti-Niddodi thermal power plant committee has written to President that the ordinance goes against the interest of farmers so he has to intervene in this regard said convenor Kiran Manjanabailu.

In a emergency meeting held in Moodbidri, a memorandum was submitted to the President.

The ordinance passed by the Modi government is against farmers and environment. It is pushing forward the corporate agenda and is in favour of businessmen.

Those who spoke in support of farmers and environment during election have forgotten their ideals and are making U-turns.

There should be debate and discussion in matters concerning the lives of millions of the farmers in this country, he said.

Committee president Alphonse Dsouza, chairman Poovappa Gowda, secretory Vinodhara Suvarna, vice-president Stany Dsouza, Kallamundkur gram panchayat president Joachim korea, panchayath member Ramegowda, Niddodi Billawa Sangh president Jaya Poojary, progressive agriculturist Rama Suvarna, Kallamundkur Billava sangh president Gangadhar Poojary, Committee members Varadaraya Kamath, Madhava Gowda and Shambhavi Shetty were present.
