Mangalore: The 34th Masters National Athletic Championship initiated by the Dakshina Kannada Masters Athletics Association and Karnataka Masters Athletic Association concluded at Mangala Stadium on Sunday February 9.






The host state Karnataka and Maharashtra shared the championship titles. Karnataka emerged as champions in the women’s category and stood second in men’s category whereas Maharashtra emerged as champions in the men’s category and bagged second place in women’s category.
Around 1,500 athletes from 22 states participated in the Championship and for the first time nine-member team from Sri Lanka also became part of the event.
At the valedictory function, Minister for Youth Services, Sports and Fisheries Abhayachandra Jain, Mangalore North MLA Mohiudeen Bava,Indian Masters Athletics Association Chairman T O Jacob, Secretary General, Gerald D’Souza, K S Kodanda Rame Gowda and K Thejomaya were present among others.
