
Mangaluru: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, on Friday, September 20, asked the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to expedite the works pertaining to the Brahmakalashotsava programme at the Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple and complete it within two months
He was addressing the PWD officials during a meeting organised to discuss the Brahmakalashotsava programme, at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. He said, “The existing Ullanje-Mittabailu-Pupadikallu and Kondela roads, which lead to temple, should be widened to at least 20 ft. In order to facilitate the parking of vehicles, permission should be obtained from the owners of the private lands.”
Minister for Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary instructed the officials to serve notices to those vendors who set up their shops on public land. “The shop owners at the premises of the Kateel temple should follow the guidelines and renew their permits. Permits of those shops that are unwilling to obey the guidelines must be cancelled,” he stressed.
Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh informed that the government has already consented to release Rs 5 crores for the Temple Management Board for the Brahmakalashotsava programme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner M J Roopa, Moodbidri MLA Umanath Kotian, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr R Selvamani, Assistant Commissioner Ravichandra Naik and others were present.
