Murder at Urwa; Man stabbed and stoned to death

Mangalore: A 40-year old was brutally murdered on Wednesday night October 23 on the steps of an open stadium of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), which is opposite Urwa Marigidi temple.

Deputy Commissioner of police (DCP) Vishnuvardhan identified the victim as Nanda Kumar, a resident of Kulai.

According to the prima facie, he was murdered after being hit on his head with a large stone. “We are yet to know what exactly prompted the murder”, he told newskarnataka.com.

Sources at the police station said he was stabbed with knife, before being stoned on the head.

It is also suspected by the police that the victim might have had a tiff in drunken attire, or might have doped and then murdered.
 
Police commissioner R Hitendra, deputy police commissioner Vishnuvardhan visited the spot. A case has been registered in the Urwa police station.
