Moodbidri: Municipal officers raided an Iyengar bakery food preparing unit here on Thursday and closed it down for preparation of low quality of food and unhygienic conditions in their premises. They also took the outlet owners to task for lack of cleanliness and notices were served to ensure cleanliness and hygienic atmosphere.

Officers found that most of the eatables were kept out in the open and exposed to heat and dust. Few items were not sold and were stored in the shop. The same outlet was raided and closed last year for violating norms.The officials also visited bars and hotels and found dirty kitchens. The items were seized and shopkeepers were warned of action if they continued to violate norms.
The officers directed the hotel owners to keep the surroundings clean and clear the waste water. They also asked them not to over use plastic carry bags below 40 microns and told them to serve the food to the customers within 6 hours of preparation.
Municipal chief officer Sheena Naik, Health inspector Indu, Environment engineer Shilpa S and Raghavendra from Government hospital were present.
