Silvia Fernandes(28)  had recently received  an SMS on her cell phone stating she was a winner of Rs 5 crores cash reward from UK Toyota. An elated Silvia soon sent all the details sought by the sender. In a few days, she received a call from a man  stating that she will have to remit a small amount of Rs 3 lakhs to a particular account if she  can claim her whopping prize money of Rs 5 crores.

Believing him she deposited  Rs 3.07,333 in the accounts at Syndicate Bank, Bank of Baroda, Karnataka Bank and SBI branches at Kinnigoli.

The amount deposited were soon withdrawn but there was no call from the company. After a futile wait for a month Silvia realized she was cheated. She  then lodged a complaint with the  police. A case has been registered under Cyber Crime Act against the UK Toyota which sent the SMS.
