Mangaluru: With regard to the row over renaming of the Light House Hill Road as ‘Mulki Sundaram Shetty Road’, Mulki Sundaram Shetty Abhimanigala Balaga demanded the state government to vacate the stay order issued in the case and implement previous order.
Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty Abhimani Balaga along with Vijaya Bank Workers’ and Officers’ Union has organized the annual remembrance of Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty at Town Hall.
Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, President of Buntara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha that the community has been pained by the decision of the government to stay the renaming of Light House Hill Road as ‘Mulki Sundaram Shetty Road’. Earlier, the government has legally allowed the renaming of the said road to ‘Mulki Sundaram Shetty Road’, but now it has brought stay over stating that it would create unrest in the society. “We will continue our struggle for truth and justices,” he said.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that Sundaram Shetty is a great inspiration who served several poor people. Hence the MCC took the unanimous decision to rename the Light House Hill Road. When the decision was made in the MCC, nobody objected, but now they have brought stay on this.
Eriya Lakshmi Narayana Alva also spoke on this occasion.
