Mangaluru: Manel Srinivas Nayak Memorial (MSNM) Besant Institute of PG Studies organised management fest “EDIFY 2020” on March 3. The inter-collegiate fest was organised to provide a platform for students to hone their managerial skills.
Daijiworld founder Walter Nandalike was the chief guest at the inauguration. Secretary of the Women’s National Education Society, K Devanand Pai presided over the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Walter Nandalike asked the students to have a positive outlook and to not be ashamed to commit a mistake, as mistakes are the steps to success. He also advised the students to take criticism positively. He recounted certain personal experiences which highlighted the importance of taking failure with a positive attitude.
Devanand Pai, in his presidential address to the gathering, shared his experiences and advised the students to keep their eyes and ears open at all times, speak less, hear and see more to acquire knowledge. “Take the right decision at the right time. An indecisive person is more harmful and less useful to an institution,” he said.
Dr. Molly S. Chaudhuri, Director, MSNM Besant Institute, welcomed the guests. Nanditha Sunil, Faculty and Coordinator of Edify 2020 briefed the gathering. Shibony Snehal Pinto, 2nd year MBA student proposed the vote of thanks. Shraddha, 1st year MBA Student, MSNM Besant Institute of PG Studies compered the inaugural programme.
“EDIFY 2020” was concluded at the end of the day with a valedictory programme.
CEO of Spearhead Group (parent company of Newskarnataka.com) Brian Fernandes was the chief guest of the valedictory programme. Former General Manager, Corporation Bank, Raghava Kamath was the president of the programme.
Addressing the gathering, Brian Fernandes said, “As you learn, have lots of fun because after you leave the institution, the fun stops and only the learning remains. There is a manager and a leader in each one of us. We have to rise from becoming a manager to a leader by committing SIN – Strategy, Integrity and Innovation. Students have to envisage the future, do the right thing and create something new.”
He also advised the students to compete against themselves and not with others, and to do a task better than yesterday.
Raghava Kamath, in his presidential address to the gathering, spoke about the all-round development of an individual and how it helps one succeed in life. He focused on how the youth can contribute to economic development.
He also spoke about new businesses in new areas and new ways of doing business citing Anthony Waste handling Cell IPO as an example.
A total of 18 teams participated in various events during the day. The winners of the various competitions were announced during the valedictory. The winners are as follows:
