MRPL hopes to convince people and go ahead with expansion plans

Mangaluru: MRPL Managing Director H Kumar on Thursday said that the issue of acquiring over 1,050 acres of land in Dakshina Kannada district would be resolved soon.

Speaking to reporters, Kumar said that though there are certain challenges in acquiring the land, the company is hopeful of resolving it through dialogue with support and intervention of Karnataka government.

He further added, “I am sure we will overcome this in the interest of the nation and to meet the fuel specification norms of BA-6 which is going to be implemented from April 1, 2020. I am sure people will support.”

The process of Karnataka Industrial Development Board(KIADB) of identifying the land is in process and the company is hopeful of getting consent of the land owners, Kumar added.

Earlier Vishwesha Theertha Swami of Pejawar Mutt had opposed the move by state government to provide 1,050 acres of land for the expansion of MRPL. He had coontended that the move was opposed by the farmers of the region.
