Bantwal : Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel accompanied by NHAI officials visited B.C.Road on Thursday June 26 to have a firsthand account of the various problems faced by people in the area due to the disorderly service road, side drains, slow pace of railway over bridge works as well as the traffic problem.



The MP who walked along with the NHAI Project Director Sriram Mishra took stock of the situation when several local elected representatives as well as members of the general public apprised him of their problems. On this occasion, the MP made a few suggestions to the police department, including reducing the size of the BC Road Circle and to allow all private and government buses which halt at the service road, to park at the new KSRTC bus stand itself.
The MP also instructed the officials to hasten the railway over bridge works and complete it within the next two months. He requested the Chief Officer of the TMC to repair all pipelines at the earliest. The NH authorities too were directed to take steps to vacate the buildings of those people who have been already offered compensation . He also said the Mangalore AC would once again look into the issue.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion the MP said a proposal for an aid of Rs 23 crores for various essential works like service road development, side drain etc has been submitted to the Centre and the works would be taken up once the funds are sanctioned.
