Mangaluru: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, who addressed the press after Chief Minister informed them about the situation in the city, blamed MLA U T Khader, PFI and outsiders for the violence in the city.

It can be recalled that violence broke out in Mangaluru on Thursday, and two protesters were killed in police firing. The police have been facing backlash for their actions from the Congress leaders and the public.

Speaking to the media, she alleged, “MLA U T Khader’s ‘fire’ statement led to violence in the Dakshina Kannada district. Within 24 hours after his remark, violence broke out in Mangaluru. This is the first time in the city’s history that miscreants indulged in stone pelting while covering their face, just like in the Kashmir violence. Congress leaders are instigating violence.”

“PFI activists were involved in the violence. The PFI must be banned. The role of their activists in the murder of several fringe group leaders like Rudresh, Prashanth Poojary, Sharath Madivala and Raju from Mysuru have already been proved during investigations. Hence, they must be banned. The state government will send a detailed report regarding the Mangaluru violence to the Union Government,” she added.

Reiterating that outsiders instigated the violence in Mangaluru, Shobha said, “There was no involvement of localites in the violence. Miscreants came from outside the district. The people who entered Mangaluru under the pretext of being journalists, even though they did not have proper ID cards, must be investigated.”
