Mangaluru: Lashing out at the ruling Congress party, Dakshina Kannada MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel said that they have failed to protect the interests of the farmers as was promised in their election manifesto.
Speaking at a press meet at the party office, Nalin Kumar said that the state government has failed to tackle issue of Kumki land.
“The BJP government in 2013, had issued a notification on the Kumki land issue favouring the farmer community, but it was not implemented. The ruling Congress has gone against the farmers by not giving them right on the Kumki land”, the MP said and assured that BJP will make efforts to do justice to the farmer community by handing over rights over the Kumki lands to them.
The district BJP unit will be holding mass pro-farmer awareness campaigns in this regard. This is the first of such a campaign and will be held on February 6 in Puttur.
