Moodbidri: A woman and her son tried to commit suicide at their residence in Marooru here on Thursday February 11.

While the mother died, the son has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The deceased is identified as Yamuna Poojary (55). Her son Praveen alias Kariya (29) is said to be critical.

On Thursday afternoon, the neighbours heard screams from the Poojary house. When they rushed to the house, they learnt that the door was locked from inside. While peeping through a window, they happened to see both the mother and the son hanging.

The reason for them to take such as extreme step is not yet ascertained.

Moodbidri police have registered a case.
