Mangaluru: A mother-daughter duo has been nabbed by the police on charges of supplying ganja into the district jail, on Tuesday evening, January 5.

Arrested are Zubeida (45) and her daughter Misriya (19) from Kasba Bengre.

It is said that Zubeida and Misriya had come to the jail to meet their acquaintances-Haris and Althaf, who have been lodged in the jail. The duo had brought some clothes in a bag. However, when the jail authorities scanned the bag, they found ganja sachets hidden inside the pocket of a pair of jeans.

Barke police came to the spot and arrested both the women and seized ganja worth Rs 3,000.

The duo was produced before the Court and was released on bail.

The women during interrogation told the police that a person named Tasthif gave them ganja and told them to smuggle the same into jail.
