Newskarnataka – Moodbidri

Moodbidri: The sub-treasury office of Moodbidri which rules the roost as far as extending  the pay packages to the government officials and staff is concerned   and is under the direct supervision of the chief minister, has remained cursed since the past several decades.

The sub-treasury office located adjacent to the Tahsildar’s office  can be presently termed lucky as it is getting a face-lift after remaining like a haunted place for several years. But still it is not bereft of problems. It is facing shortage of staff by 50 per cent which has affected its functioning to a great extent.

The building  which was inaugurated by the then finance minister M Shivanna on July 11, 2001  began to lose shape as years passed by owing to sub-standard works.

The building which was just 13 years old, looked like a century old building with leaking roofs, irregular power supply during monsoons, ill-maintained toilets and furniture. Walls too began to develop cracks slowly. Presently repair works are underway with the help of Rs 10 lakh grants from the Public Works Department. The office has only one  first division assistant and  in the event of his going on leave, the second division assistant is over burdened. It is learnt, the second division   assistants presently function  right from 7 am to 7 pm and even work on Sundays and government holidays.

The staff of the sub-treasury office hope early measures would be taken to recruit requisite staff to the  office at the earliest.
