Moodbidri : A model of a modern cattle shed, an exhibition of cattle of various breeds, demonstration of agricultural tools and implements both traditional and modern will be some of the special highlights of the State level 34th Krishi Mela (Farm Fest) to be held at Vidyagiri under the aegis of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Scheme, Dharmasthala and Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri on account of Alva Vishwa Nudisiri Virasat.
During the previous 33 Krishi Melas, the cattle were exhibited only during one day while this time there will be cattle show on all the three days. More emphasis would be laid on airy farming and farmers will be taught on models to be adopted to make dairy farming a means of self-reliance.
A cattle fair will be held in a 100 square feet area there will be a model cattle shed of 100×6 feet. A total of 40 breeds of cattle including Gir, Hallikaru, Amritha Mahal, Malenada Gidda-3, HF-2, Jersey-2, Salivala-2, will be on display.
Another special feature is a dog and a hen show. Around 20 breeds of dogs can be seen at the show. The hen show will feature 20 Japanese hens and 20 Turkey hens among others.
