
Mangaluru: Come August 15, Kadaba and Moodbidri taluks will be officially recognized as independent taluks. Though the announcement with regard to granting an independent status to the two taluks had been done long ago, they had not begun their administrative functioning independently yet.
Addressing a press meet at DC office here, Urban Development Minister UT Khader informed that the revenue minister will officially launch the functioning of two taluk centers in Kadaba and Moodbidri as independent ones. Kadaba taluk inaugural will be done around 12 pm and Moodbidri around 4 pm on August 15 evening. The people of Moodbidri and Kadaba taluk can avail facilities from their own taluks, which will begin functioning from a rented building.
“Initially, there may be hiccups in its functioning but gradually, it will be set right,” he added

Regarding the torrential rainfall witnessed in the district, he said the district has received 40% excessive rainfall. In district 10 deaths have been reported due to natural calamities. The district administration has already given a compensation of Rs 45 lakh for families of nine people who have died due to natural calamities. The district administration has already given Rs 122.60 lakhs for the damages of 1014 houses due to the natural calamities. Crops on an area of 252.07 hectare were damaged and the administration has given compensation of Rs 19 lakhs.
