Mangaluru: In a tragic incident, a student drowned at Panambur beach on Tuesday, September 13. Another student was rescued by the life guards at the beach.

Praful (20) from Somwarpet in Kodagu district has been identified as the deceased. He was studying at a college in Moodabidri. Praful along with his five friends ventured into the deep waters of the beach ignoring the repeated warnings of the life guards.

Praful and Rathan (20) were dragged by a huge wave into the beach. Rathan was rescued by the life guards and admitted to hospital. Rakesh, Prem, Leelaksha, and Bharath are the others who visited the beach on Tuesday along with Praful and Rathan.

A case of unnatural death was registered at Panambur police station.
