Moily inspects ongoing works of new block of Lady Goschen Hospital

Mangalore : Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily, today inspected the construction works of the second block of the Lady Goschen Hospital in Mangalore. The project is being funded by ONGC-MRPL. The minister also spoke to the hospital authorities as well as the district administration. He further interacted with officials of the ONGC-MRPL.

Later speaking to press men, Moily said the works are expected to be complete by December 2014. He said as soon as construction of two of the six floors are complete, the same will be handed over to the hospital. He said he was aware of the problems faced by the hospital staff as well as patients due to lack of space in the hospital at present.

Moily also spoke about the compensation announced for the families of the victims of Perne Gas Tanker Tragedy, and said he had already held talks with HPCL officials in Bangalore. Moily further promised that the compensation would be sanctioned in six weeks time.

N Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, PP Upadhya, Managing Director of MRPL, Dr Shakuntala, Superintendent of Lady Goschen Hospital, former MUDA chairman Tejomaya, Corporators Shashidhar Hegde, Bhasker Moily and others were present during the Ministers visit.
