Manglauru: Former Union Minister B. Janardhana Poojary on Thursday criticized Narendra Modi-led NDA government for passing the latest ordinance to amend the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. “The move is anti-poor and anti-farmer, which favors capitalists”, he said.
Speaking to the reporters here in the city, Mr. Poojary said that Mr. Modi promised overall development in its manifesto, while now he is only favoring the capitalists. It will ruin the lives of farmers and the poor, he stressed.

He further said that the former UPA government had brought an amendment to the Land Acquisition Act to prevent farmers from committing suicide. About 75 percent of people in the country, including farmers, live in rural areas. All the provisions in the ordinance related to rehabilitation and compensation are anti-farmer, he lashed against the NDA government for the ordinance which would harm the interests of the farmers. “If the famers go on protest, the entire country will have no food to eat”, he added.
Besides, Mr. Poojary also criticized the Labor ordinance passed by the union government which will affect lakhs of laborers who are working in the factories. They will be deprived of facilities, as the law is pro-industrialists, he said.
Congress is secular, BHP is our constitution
On the launch of a new Hindutva organisation formed by a Congress leader in Puttur, Mr Poojary said that the organisation goes against the secular principles of Congress party. “There will not be any difference between BJP and the congress. We are secular. Our aim is to fight for people’s causes and not based on religion”, he said.
