Mangaluru: Minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a BJP’s rally in Udupi, AICC spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should run an ‘apology’ campaign rather than election campaign for betraying and backstabbing people of Karnataka.
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, May 1, Jaiveer alleged, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledges the fact that he cannot defeat Siddaramaiah government in terms of education and employment. The nation knows that till date the Prime Minister’s educational degrees are a secret. But one degree he has for sure – degrees of lies. He is mastered the art of lying and peddling lies to mislead the voters.”
“From past four years PM Modi only gives ‘sermons’ but does not offer any solutions. For Karnataka ‘NaMo’ stands for NamageMosa. The BJP is guilty of betraying the people of Karnataka. The Prime Minister only believes in politics of ‘television’ and ‘lacks vision’. The Prime Minister spoke about electricity but his speech lacked ‘current’ in terms of facts and substances,” he added.
Demanding answers form PM Modi Jaiveer posed 9 questions on behalf of the Indian National Congress as follows:
1. Why did BJP central government not clear the “Expansion of Mangalore Airport” plan after repeated reminders by the state government, despite the fact that Mangaluru is witnessing growth of 35 percent in passenger traffic annually?
2. Why has the PM Modi government not released the full amount of central government share towards 3rd stage expansion of Mangalore Fishery Port despite categorical commitment and sanction of UPA Government?
3. Why did PM Modi government not released promised Central Government funds towards construction of Fishery Jetty Harbour in Kulai ultimately leading to shelving of the project?
4. In April 2017, Karnataka was awarded a mere Rs 1435.95 crore even though the state suffered from the worst draught in 45 years. BJP ruled states received a much higher amount in disaster relief with Maharastra being allocated Rs 8195 crore, Gujarat Rs 3894 crore, and Rajasthan Rs 2153 crore . Why this step motherly treatment to the drought affected of Karnataka?
5. The Karnataka state government announced a farm loan waiver in 2017 worth Rs 8165 crores for loans taken from cooperative banks. The waiver was for upto Rs 50000 per farmer, to benefit 22,27,506 farmers in the state. To extend the benefit to the farmers who had borrowed from nationalised and commercial banks, the state government sought help from the Modi government. Why was no assistance extended for this?
6. Rafale HAL Bengaluru’s HAL has been making aircrafts for the India Air Force for 70 years. The Modi government denied HAL the Rafale contract and awarded it to a private entity, thus depriving Karnataka’s youth of job opportunities. Do our Kannadigas not need jobs as per the Modi government? Why did Modi government backstab Karnataka by denying Rs 36000 crore of investment in Karnataka, through offset contract between HAL-Dassault?
7. The rules for IBPS exams to work in regional rural banks were modified and the exams were now held in English/Hindi and not in Kannada. This move worked against the local Kannadigas writing the exam. The CM wrote to Arun Jaitley requesting that the rules be changed to allow candidates to write the exam in Kannada. Why has there been no response?
8. Why did the Modi government decided to shift the CRPF headquarters to Chandauli in UP from Taralu in Karnataka even though UP already has 5 CRPF centers?
9. Why did PM Modi betray the youth of the country by giving false hopes of assuring 2 crore Jobs? PM Modi’s vision for youth is limited to “Pakodas” and “Pan.”
