MLC Ivan sends proposal ahead of state budget

Mangaluru: Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Ivan D’souza slammed the BJP lead union government for trying to dilute Land Acquisition Bill to favor corporates. The government, Ivan said has neglected farmer’s interest in the ordinance which was mulling to pass in both the houses.

In a press meet held on Friday, Ivan D’souza informed that the district Congress has been waiting for Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President’s order, to stage a continuous fight against the proposed bill. “The Congress would thwart all the efforts to pass the bill in the current shape”, he said.

Besides, MLC gave a press release to divulge the proposals he put forth before the state government ahead of budget session scheduled to be held on March 13. “I have submitted my proposals of allocations for various projects in the district.” He hoped government would consider his submissions with seriousness to benefit the people of the coastal district.

The key proposals include allotment of Rs. 22 crore to lay a four-lane road from Pumpwell to Padil, Rs.19 crore to build a hanging bridge between Sultan Batheri and Bengre, Rs. 40 crore to upgrade Kankanadi market, Rs. 15 crore to construct a new building for women polytechnic college and Rs. 100 crore to develop newly added wards of MCC”, he said.

In addition to it, D’Souza sent a proposal to release up to Rs 3,000 crore for the implementation of Paschima Vahini project, to cater to the growing demands for water.
