Mangaluru: In order to curb communal disturbances in Dakshina Kannada, an inter-dialogue comprising all communal outfit heads, religious leaders and politicians will be held, MLC Ivan D’Souza said.

Addressing a press meet at his office on Saturday, November 28, he said that 22 out of 28 cases registered pertaining to inflammatory speeches, were reported from Dakshina Kannada. He said that it was high time that a permanent solution be found out to maintain peace in the district. He expressed concerns that foreign investors fear to introduce their business in the district due to frequent communal clashes here. An inter-dialogue should resolve the issue, he opined.
As the district is facing acute shortage of police personnel, Ivan claimed that in the recently held winter session, he demanded extra police force in addition to recruitment to all vacant positions in the police department. A special squad will be formed to spy on elements that trigger communal disturbances in the district, he added.
BJP following dual policy on Yettinahole
Slamming the district unit of the BJP, Ivan said that it has been following a dual policy on the Yettinahole project. “While the MP is taking out rallies against the project and accusing the Congress government for the implementation of the project, the BJP representatives from the district kept questioning Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the time frame required to complete the project. Everybody in the BJP wants the execution of the project at the earliest,” he said adding that though he tried his best to speak against the project, his plea was sidelined.
