Missing youth from Sullia returns, rubbishes conversion rumours during Rai’s meet

Sullia: District-in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai visited the house of the youth from Sullia who went missing amid rumours of conversion. Dikshith Gowda had left home following an altercation with his father, but returned soon after allegations of conversion popped up.
On September 8, while Dikshith from Arambur in Sullia was performing yoga, his father Janardhan Gowda, suspected that he was doing namaz and questioned him. Dikshith who got upset with his father questioning him, left home and a missing complaint was registered by the family. Police launched an extensive search for the missing youth. Meanwhile, rumours of Dikshith being forced to convert into other religion spread widely. Several saffron outfits held protests across the taluk.

Dikshith during the minister’s visit rubbished the rumours and clarified to the media that he was not converted to any religion instead he left home following an argument with his father. “The reports of conversion are rumours and there is no truth in it. Soon after I came to know about these baseless allegations of conversion, I decided to return home,” he said.

Minister spoke to the kin of the youth and assured support.
