Moodbidri: In a shocking incident, a woman who went missing ten days ago was found murdered at Shunthila in Niddodi. The local police have arrested her brother in this regard.

Revathi, a resident of Yamala in Niddodi had on January 14, informed her mother-in-law that she is going to the Niddodi market after which she did not return. As the police learnt about the strained relationship between her and her brother Shekhar in connection with her jewellery, they suspected his foul play and detained him.

During questioning, he informed the police that he had mortgaged her jewellery in order to clear her debt and that he had no role to play in her missing case. Hence, he was set free. Meanwhile, the locals warned the police of a protest if the case was not resolved immediately.

In response, the police detained Shekhar again and while interrogation, he is said to have accepted that he killed Revathi.

According to sources, as Revathi was repeatedly asking for her jewellery, Shekhar called her to a secluded place and strangled her to death.
