Missing school girl found at Mallikatta, job hunting

Mangaluru: A 13-year-old school girl who was missing since yesterday from Nagori has been traced by the police.

As per the reports, the wandering girl knocked at the doors of some residents at Mallikatta asking for a job. She further said that she was from Bagalkot and claimed that her parents had died. One of the residents of the area, growing suspicious, informed the authorities.

The girl was then taken by the officials of the Child Welfare Committee and brought to the Bala Samrakshana Mandir at Bondel. Initially, there was confusion about the identity of the girl, as she claimed that her parents were dead. Moreover, Chaitra’s parents too hail from Bagalkot.

However, after some investigation, it was confirmed that it was the same girl, after which girl revealed that truth that she had fought with her sister, and the latter had told her in anger to leave home and hence she did so.

Mangaluru: A 13-year-old girl went missing under mysterious circumstances on the evening of Monday July 20. The girl is identified as Chaitra, daughter of Rangappa Kambar and Mallava. She is an eighth standard student of Capitanio High School.

Reportedly Chaitra came home from school took a pair of clothes and told her parents that she was going for tuitions.

Meanwhile, at Garodi temple a woman found a plastic bag containing a uniform and a school bag in a narrow alley, next to the temple.  When few representatives of Garodi temple examined the school bag, they found Chaitra’s identity card which also had her parents’ details and number. Her father was immediately contacted and told about the incident.

Rangappa rushed to Garodi temple and identified the items as belonging to his daughter, and a search was conducted. However, Chaitra was nowhere to be found.

CCTV footage at Garodi temple revealed that Chaitra had entered the premises in uniform and left in casual clothes, and then taken the number 9 city bus from Garodi. It is not known why or where she was planning to go. Kankanady police arrived at the spot for further investigation.
