Mangaluru: The lifeguards at Panambur beach found five children around the age of 14-years loitering early in the morning at the beach, on Tuesday.

The kids identified as Mukhesh, Sudeep, Nishanth and Akshay of Mathikere and Mathin of Yeshwantpura are said to be students of St Lourdes High School.

Reportedly, on September 1 at around 8.00 am the five kids were stopped by a lifeguard at the beach and questioned as they were not accompanied by their parents. On being questioned, one of them told him that they were with their aunt.

When the lifeguards did not find their escort even after half-an-hour, they took them to their office.

It is also said that one student had a mobile phone, but it was in airplane mode. “The phone was flooded with calls once the normal mode was activated. Their family members said the students had been missing since Monday morning. They asked us to hand them over to the police,” he said.
