Ullal: Despite tight security in the Ullal area, miscreants have continued to disrupt peace. In another incident of inciting communal violence, a few unidentified men have damaged banners belonging a different community and set a tailor’s shop on fire.

The Nithyananda tailor’s shop on T C Road which was set on fire, belongs to Vasudev Poojary. The loss has been estimated at around Rs 2 lakhs. The shop was set on fire on Friday night which was noticed by a photographer who was returning home.

On getting information,  DCP K Santhosh Babu, N Vishnuvardhan, ACP Kalyan Shetty, Ullal station Savithra Teja and S I Bharathi visited the spot and have registered a case.

The banners put up by a community in Ambala Mogaru, Konaje, Kumpala, Madyar and Madoor area were damaged by the miscreants.

Even though section 144 has been imposed following recent incidents of communal violence and Hindu Samajotsava on March 1, these incidents have continued. However, KSRP police and additional personnel have been called to the spot.

District panchayat vice president Sathish Kumpala who visited the spot said a few miscreants are attempting to disrupt peace but no one should listen to the miscreants and rumors. People belonging to all the communities should maintain peace and police must deploy more security in this regard.

BJP District vice president Chandrahas Ullal said people from the region are living peacefully. As religious functions like Hindu Samajotsava and Uroos are coming up, locals should not care for a few miscreants who are continuously disturbing peace.

Following on all the recent attacks in the area, police have imposed section 144 in Mogaveera Patna, Muk Kacheri, Thokkottu, Deralakatte and Kuthar and security has been beefed up.
