Kasaragod: Nearly four years after the incident, Vidyanagar police have arrested an accused in connection with the sexual assault of a minor.

Abdul Salam (56), a resident of Taliparamba is the arrested.

The incident took place in August 2012, where a 13-year-old girl from Podipalla in Vidyanagar was sexually assaulted reportedly after her mother forced the accused to do so.

Following the incident, the victim’s mother, relatives Abdul Kareem and Nasir were arrested. But the main accused Abdul Salam had absconded. However, he was arrested with the help of cyber cell. With his arrest, all the accused have been now taken into custody.

Abdul Salam who was running a real-estate business had taken the girl to a house in Taliparamba and sexually assaulted her. Based on complaint from Childline officials, the police registered a case.
