Mangaluru: Mangaluru International Airport has won the fifth place in the country for customer satisfaction and service among 53 airports of the country. However, it tops the list among South Indian airports with Coimbatore at second place with 4.74 marks and Tiruchi with 4.73 marks in the third place.

The ranking is based on consumer satisfaction survey conducted by Airports Authority of India between July-December 2015, covering 53 medium size airports of India which handle 15 lac passengers annually.
While Mangaluru has received 4.75 score in five index, the Raipur airport has been ranked first with 4.86 points, followed by Chandigarh with 4.83, Udaipur with 4.80 and Bhubaneshwar with 4.79.
The survey covers 33 services including parking, baggage trolley, checkout queue waiting time, speed of baggage disposal etc.
For the first time among the airports of South India, Mangaluru International Airport has also bagged OHSAS 18001:2007 certificate for best maintenance and safety standards- a certificate issued on the basis of general maintenance of the airport, air traffic, facilities in the airport terminal, safety and allied services.
