MESCOM negligence: Girl electrocuted at Kukke Subrahmanya

Mangaluru: In a tragic incident a ten year old from Bengaluru died, after being electrocuted here at Kukke Subrahmanya temple on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Deepa (10) daughter of Chinnachari and Jayamma from Nandini Layout in capital city.

The incident took place here on Monday when the family had come to Kukke Subrahmanya temple to offer pooja. They went to a shop nearby to buy fruits and Deepa who moved away from them touched a live wire fallen from an electric pole.

Soon her mother and other family members tried to rescue her. Deepa and her mother however were taken to a nearby hospital with multiple burns. Deepa died at the hospital.

A complaint has been filed against MESCOM for negligence. A case under 304A of IPC (Causing death by negligence) has been registered against Venugopal Rai, the shop owner.

The body has been taken to K S Hegde Medical Academy at Deralakatte for post-mortem.
