Mentally ill woman abandoned by family; admitted to Seon Ashram

Belthangady :  A 25 year old mentally ill woman who was found loitering in the Ujire bus stand area on June 26, Thursday night, has been admitted to the Seon Ashram by local social activists.

It is learnt, the woman named Shaila from Chikmagalur was abandoned in the  town by her family.  According to her, the family members had brought her to the town to admit her to an ashram, but abandoned her after  the ashram authorities said  they cannot admit her for want of space.

The woman was initially provided shelter in a house at Ujire by Ujire GP Chief Balakrishna Gowda and social activists Ravi Chakkitalaya and Gracian Veigas. Later, she was  admitted to Seon Ashram on Friday June 27.

It has been gathered that the woman belongs to an affluent family which however did not want her. Latest information states that the police have been able to trace the family of the woman.
