Bantwal: The mother-daughter duo from Bantwal has brought laurel to the region by being a part of the ‘Mother India Crochet Queen (MICQ) Group, which scripted history by entering the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the world’s largest crochet blanket.

Anuradha R Prabhu, wife of Ramaprasad Prabhu and her daughter Anusha R Prabhu are the two who contributed to the making of the biggest blanket of the world.
Residents of Tyagarajnagar in Bantwal, the two joined the Facebook group named MICQ, which was formed by 14 countries comprising of 1500 Indian women. Ashwini from Mangaluru and Durgadevi from Puttur too are the members of the group.
The group has produced a blanket which is 11.148 sq mts thereby beating the record set by a South African group that had produced a blanket of 3.3348 sq mts.
The blanket was recently laid out at MNM engineering college grounds, Chennai for judgement.
Anuradha Prabhu said that there were over 200 women from Karnataka who had taken part in the group activity. It was a matter of pride that the humble effort had grabbed international accolade.
The women have made the blanket over a period of six months.
